Arcane Arts:
The Arcane Arts are easily the most developed of the magic practices as it was in this art that the Quel'dori were most adept. They in turn taught their human pupils the same and those first hundred adepts taught the rest of humanity the art as well. The arcane practices are perhaps the purest form of magic next to the Fel Magic’s wielded by the Burning Legion.
Mages who have mastered the Arcane Arts can float objects through thin air, enchant themselves, transport others anywhere around the world within the time span of a single second and create blasts of energy that can rip through metal and flesh.
The arts of the arcane magisters cover a wide variety of skills and talents, though this broad range of skills and talents comes at a price. The knowledge one must consume in the pursuit of your mastery is daunting at the best of times. Though all arts require discipline the arcane requires it even more so. There are no short-cuts to power when it comes to the arcane.
To compete among others you must study your art with dutifulness bordering on obsession. The Arcane Arts are a science and to conduct ones magic on must have a keen understanding of the theory of magic before you even consider making use of its application. However for those who manage to attain mastery of such knowledge your options on the route toward power become nearly infinite.
Evocation:
The physical manifestation of arcane magic. This includes everything from one’s ability to conjure purple cords of energy, the ability to slow ones enemy, or sharpen ones blade. Evocation is the path taken by most magisters in the Stormwind Tower and the art in which the Kirin Tor excelled. To turn one invisible, to speed one up, or to turn one into a sheep; evocation covers a wide variety of fields. It comes with a price however. Though all said spells come from the same force and are summoned up in the same way they are all applied differently and it is incredibly difficult to master every one.
Planar Manipulation:
The art of teleportation and physical manipulation of items. The ability to enchant numerous items and instruct them to work and the power to levitate objects through air are but two of the powers such a mage controls. These mages are also capable of teleporting themselves and other across vast distances that would take others days or even weeks to traverse. Those who would follow this path would find themselves a force worth reckoning with.
Myriad:
In short; the ability to dip ones hand into hydromancy, pyromancy and the art of the arcane. The path of the Myriad is one that can only be taken by the most aged and advanced of wizards. Those who have spent countless years pouring over tomes of magic and those who have spent entire decades perfecting their art. To follow the path of the Myriad is to be capable of conjuring blasts of water, tossing fireballs and enchanting and manipulating the world around you through the basic art of the arcane. As an arcane expert you sacrifice your versatility for an overall weakness in magic at large. For though you have spent much time in the studying of multiple branches of magic you have been forced to give up any significant mastery as consequence.
